At just 15 years old, Rajasthan Royals batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has written his name in the record books of cricket history. During a spectacular 93-run knock off 38 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants, the teenage prodigy became the first Indian cricketer ever to hit more than 50 sixes in a single Indian Premier League (IPL) season, hitting an astonishing 10 sixes in that match alone.
A Record-Breaking Season of Power Hitting
With this performance, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi reached 53 sixes in the 2026 season, comfortably breaking the previous Indian seasonal record of 42 sixes held by Abhishek Sharma. He now joins an elite global club, becoming only the third player in IPL history to surpass the 50-six milestone in a single edition, alongside legends Chris Gayle and Andre Russell. He also became the youngest player to score 500 runs in an IPL season, overtaking Rishabh Pant.
Unbelievable Stats and Orange Cap Holder
Sooryavanshi’s record-shattering run has left fans and cricket pundits in awe. Across 13 matches, he has amassed 579 runs, holding the Orange Cap and striking at an incredible rate of 238.66. Earlier this season, he set the record for the most sixes hit by an Indian in a single IPL match by hitting 12 sixes against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is also the fastest player in the world to reach 100 T20 sixes by achieving the milestone in just 515 balls.
Sooryavanshi’s historic campaign has redefined what is possible for young players, establishing him as the future face of Indian batting dominance.
